If you apply for a credit card online,and get an instant refusal,will this show as a search?

Yes.

There are services from companies like moneysupermarket which give you an indication of what loans you might be offered based on your credit rating (without doing a search) but not heard of one for credit cards.

If you have been refused a couple of times already, you need to wait 3 months. If you don't have much of a credit footprint, try applying to Capital 1 or for a storecard or two. The more mainstream lenders may then be more likely to accept you.

As above, it will be shown. The fact that it was rejected would be irrelevant. Even if your application suceeded, it would show straight away.

The thing that will only show will be that you had a search done on a certain date. Won't show if or not you have been rejected or not.

Which is exactly what I said in the post before
