I had the same problem, and couldn't find an Open Source stand-alone alternative. The problem is that there is no adequate free map data (other than a few incomplete volunteer-run efforts).
I got round it using VirtualBox which, unlike WINE, will run Autoroute Ok within Ubuntu. I'd recommend using Sun's own xVM version rather than the fully Open Source one, as it's more functional (e.g. has USB support).0 -
Like many others I couldn't get Autoroute to work but there is a routing program that works well with Linux as well as Windows 95 onwards.
"InfoMap Navigator" is available in either Great Britain and Ireland or Europe editions and used on a laptop connected via usb to a gps, provides turn by turn human voice navigation. We shall not allow the fear of going mad to make us keep the banner of imagination at half-mast.0
