Printing through a Network

I have recently bought a new HP Pavilion G60-215EM laptop which connects ok into my router/modem using a Zoom X6.

It goes online ok it recognises my desktop and my desktop recognises it.

It also recognises my two printers attached to my destkop - the HP 6L laser it can send a print to ok but my HP 990CXI Deskjet it sees but does'nt print.

The laptop is running Vista Basic.

My other laptop an HP Pavilion G6061ea connects to both ok it runs Vista home premium.

Can someone please help me to get this new laptop to print on the deskjet printer?

click start > control panel > printers > click add a printer > add a network printer > let it search for the printer and follow the rest of the wizard.

if it doesnt find the printer, you may need to share it via the computer that it is connected to.

if it wont print, delete the printer from the comp that having problems printing to it and add it again (via the method above)

edit - when you need to use the deskjet, are you selecting the printer from the drop down list when you try to print?

it may need the correct printer drivers loading directly onto the new laptop rather than letting windows load generic printer drivers via the network

I have tried that but a message says Vista drivers are ok to be used and won't let me download them fro the HP site.
