I'd like to set up a "community" website

It'd be used to give updates as to how our plans on getting a play area are going (including photos, graphics, feedback facility). But I haven't got a clue as to how to go about it. Any suggestions as to how easy it is to do and (more importantly) can I do it for free?!?

Have set-up a Google site but... is it possible to set-up a comments box so that people can leave comments?

wordpress.org should do the trick, setup a blog there, allows you to uploads photos to posts and people can leave comments.

And you can't beat free!

Sorry, just realized that should have been wordpress.com (.org is the wordpress program itself)

You should be able to transfer over the site over to wordpress by copying and pasting or there might be a way to import it. I'd setup a wordpress.com account and once you're in the control panel see if there is a way to import.
