Internet connection keeps dropping

My desktop is constantly losing it's internet connection.

On the little monitor by the clock I have to constantly right click on repair.

Desktop is Acer + Belkin wireless dongle in one room, and Netgear 54mbps wireless router in another room, can't get the router any closer to the desktop due to it being connected to the modem.

I have XP installed and on VM BB.

Any suggestions please?

Have you tried switching the router off? Sometimes just rebooting the router can sort intermittent problems like that (Switch the computer off whilst you do it though)

Give your system a thorough scan for virus trojan & malware see if it finds anything. Mine was caused by such malware.

Could be the router is cr*p (Not strong enough signal) or the internal laptops wireless card is cr*p (Which is what my mates was like). We ended up having to buy a USB wireless adaptor and its worked fine ever since.

You could try using a different CHANNEL though from within the router settings in case its conflicting with something else

How do you KNOW the thickness of the walls are not making a difference?
