I'm going to prague in July for my honeymoon. Has anybody got any advice/tips about the city?

When booking accomodation i suggest you stay away from wenceslas square area for a honeymoon, lots of strip clubs and ladies of the night around, are also some larger hotels up there tho, such as the radisson and k and k fenix, but i wouldn't recommend this area for a honeymoon- maybe your stag do! Stay in the old town area- much more suitable. Do google search for athos travel prague, they have some nice apts on or around the old town. Also- watch your wallet of an evening, avoid being distracted by one person, whilst another person sticks their hand in your back pocket.0

We stayed at Cloiser Inn hotel this November. Nice Hotel and good value, particularly well situated for both sides of the river, just 5mins from Charles Bridge.
Cost about £70 for room inc bfast which was good.
Book for the National Theatre, right on the river for a special evening out. Also try a walk up to the tower for a panaramic view of the city.
If like us you enjoy walking then Pargue is ideal because the best way to see the city is on foot. Do go to the old town sqaure at night - it's very pretty and everyone sitys outside under those gas heater things - fantastic even in November.
Don't botrher with taxis from the airport look out for the minibuses outside. Fixed fare and great service - 100% reliable.

dunno if you like your social history, and you may feel this is a bit serious for a honeymoon... i went in december a few years ago and did a walking tour of the jewish quarter. we struck it lucky with a nice guide, she was very thorough and informative, and my abiding memory was the museum they have built that lists the names in gold leaf on the wall of evey jewish person that had lived in the ghetto throuh the second world war. it was humbling, and a tasteful memmorial. if not this trip, perhaps at another time.

Better still, just get the bus for about 20p. It'll take you to Dejvanska station, from where you can buy a 7 day travelcard for about £4, then get on the train and goto your hotel. Less than an hour from the airport to the centre.0 -

Ha! Knowing my luck Il get on the wrong bus and end up in Hungry or something. :-/
Thanks for the info, though! ;DMark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Life is being made differcult for you here. Visited prague 4 weeks ago. When your in the arrivals hall at Praha Airport their is a booth that sells 1,2 3 or 7 day travel tickets. these tickets allow you unlimited travel either on the Buses, Trams or Metro. We purchased a 200Kc =72hour ticket roughly about 4 pounds. Right outside the airport you catch the 119 bus cross one road , validate your ticket on the bus by sloting into a machine that stamps it then thats it really ...soo simple during our stay we werent asked for our ticket.
The Bus journey takes about 20minutes to the Metro station called Dejvicka ...imagine the Tube well get the thought of dirty cramped stations out of your mind very clean stations take the green line 4 stops takes you too mustek which is the centre of prague and thenext stop is Muzeum takes you the National Musuem which is the top end of Wenslsa Square.

Stayed in Prague in November for 3 nights.
Flew by Easyjet - not too bad!
Stayed at the Corinthia Panorama Hotel, booked through Lastminute.com - 4* Hotel in the suburbs, right next to underground station. Superb. Better than probably any 4* hotel in the UK and only cost £38 per night, for TWO including full buffet hot/cold/whatever you like breakfast. Walk in off the street and you will pay £150 !! http://www.corinthia.cz/ They've got a 5* hotel in Prague as well. Best price was on Lastminute.com and Octopus was pretty close in price too.
Don't buy a Prague Card - complete waste of money.
DO book your airport transfer with Prague Airport Shuttle http://prague-airport-shuttle.com who offer a great service in private cars of American and Canadian ex-pats generally. All English speakers and highly recommended. 1300 CSK for return journey or 650CZK one way, for a car full, door-to-door.
Don't expect bargains in the shops - prices are on a par with UK generally, particularly for western goods.
Good bargains can be had at the airport however - Smirnoff Blue 50% £8, Hills Absinth £9 (costs £40+ here!).
Some excellent restauarants and food prices are generally cheap.
Travel around Prague is excellent - one cheap ticket £4 for 3 days or £6 for a week covers tram, bus, underground.
Do go up the miniature Eiffel tower - highest thing in Prague and superb views!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
