does it matter how old the phones are or whether they are broken etc ?
ive started doing the recycling printer cartridges and would like to start doing the phones too
Slightly offtopic but on the subject of mobile phones I found this on quidco the other day http://www.quidco.com/envirofone/ they recycle phones and pay you cash (how much depends on the handset) + you get 1.49 in your quidco account for doing so. Might be worth more than the points in some cases.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -

bluenose1 wrote:I want to save up Clubcard points for holiday to florida using two different Clubcards. Has anyone had any experience of doing this?
Do they send them out in £5 vouchers like they do for days out?
Will I be able to use 2 sets for same holiday (will both be in my name.)
Regards
Anne
As long as both clubcards are registered at the same address you will be fine.
For holidays, they issue the tokens with your name on. Also, they send them out in £100, £60, £40, £10 and £5 so if you send in a large order, you will receive the larger denominations.

Went To Bella Italia Last Week And Saw Someone Using Tesco Deals Vouchers, I Was Gutted As Had Some At Home(did Do A Quick Search For Offers Before Going, but Missed This)
What I Need To Know Is Can You Use Vouchers For Otherthings Instead Of What They Were Origionaly Ordered For?, As I Got Days Out Vouchers And Would Like To Use Them At Bella Italia Or Somewhere:think:
Also Can You Use Any Vouchers In Self Service Checkout Or Do They Have To Be Relevent To Purchases?
Any Help Gratefully Recieved
I ordered days out tokens and used them in Bella Italia.
All the deals have order codes which start with either S or P. S ones you can order as many or as little as you like. the P ones are full payment ones...for example RAC membership or Adult tickets for Alton Towers. where you can't part pay with vouchers/cash.
In the past I've ordered restaurant tickets and used them as days out and vice versa.0 -
Does anyone know how much Tesco pays to the companies that offer deals? They must get some cash from Tesco when they send in the deals tokens that they have accepted in payment, but I don't understand how Tesco and the deals companies can both be happy with the amount that is paid.
Take the following example. You spend £1000 at Tesco and earn 1000 clubpoints (let's ignore special promotions). If you use this to offset your next Tesco shop, it will save you £10. So, effectively, Tesco are giving you back 1% of what you spend with them, by letting you have £10-worth of Tesco goods. It's like reducing their prices by 1%.
I understand why they would do that, because it is worth it for Tesco to forgo the 1% in return for gaining massive information about your shopping habits and for encouraging you to spend more with Tesco.
But how is it commercially possible that I can use those same points to buy £40 of deals tokens and pay for, say, an MOT for which Nationwide would otherwise expect £40 cash? There may be other ways to get some small discount from Nationwide, but as far as I know there's no other way you can get an MOT at Nationwide for less than £30-35. I can see that Nationwide might be willing to agree to accept less than the full £40 from Tesco, because Tesco is generating extra business for them. So, maybe they would agree that they will accept £30 cash from Tesco when they claim reimbursement for the £40 deals tokens, but I can't see why they would accept less than £30 from Tesco.
But why would Tesco pay £30 cash to Nationwide when they only pay out £10 if I use the points in Tesco's own shop? That would mean they are losing 3% of the £1000 you spent in Tescos in the first place. If they are willing to do that, surely they would be better to let you have £30 off your next Tesco shop instead? (After all, if they are selling those goods at £30, they probably only cost Tesco £20, and surely they would prefer to hand over goods that cost them £20 rather than hand out £30 cash to Nationwide?)
I'm genuinely puzzled. It would make no sense for Tesco to pay to the clubdeals companies any more than face value for £10 of clubcard vouchers, but it would make no sense for the clubdeals companies to accept only £10 of cash from Tesco when they claim reimbursement from Tesco for £40 of deals tokens. That would mean the clubdeals companies are giving a 75% discount to Tesco customers, but that seems way higher than the discount they would give in virtually any other circumstances.

Hi gang. I don't ever shop in Tesco but am thinking about buying a PC I have seen in an advert for £399-97.
Now, my question is, how should I maximise what I get for handing over that money?
EG.
1) Make sure I've joined the Clubcard scheme, as I presume this will earn me 399 points.
2) Make sure I fill up my car with petrol at the Tesco garage and show my receipt (someone told me you get 5p per litre off).
3) Use my GE Capital credit card when paying for the PC (0% for 12 months)
Is there anything else I can do to maximise the return for my outlay?Only when the last tree has died
and the last river has been poisoned
and the last fish has been caught
will we realise we cannot eat money0 -
Part of it I suppose is down to making their clubcard attractive for people to use. If it just allowed discounts on Tesco products it would not be perceived as good and less folk may use it.
In terms of MOTs etc costing less, the buying power of Tesco will mean that they can negotiate significantly cheaper prices. Tesco pay a small amount to the MOT centre, but in turn guarantee X thousand MOTs at that lower price. In many cases this will make better sense for Nationwide who will also pick up any corrective repairs to the cars which are brought in for the MOT.
It's just a case of economics... HTHWaddle you do eh?0 -

I would also sign up for clubs and when you receive a newsletter with them you usually receive a double points voucher with it. Obviously these are better to save for large purchases!0 -

Hi if you go into the Tesco website and click on Tesco Club card on that page is Exclusive clubs (Healthy Living, Food club, Wine club). You get a magazine and various coupons with extra points. Most of the time you get a double points coupon which I save for the larger spends. Hope this helps.0
