Can anyone recommend a good reliable kilt hire company in or near Glasgow. They must be able to hire out up to 50 inch waist for a kilt with a decent selection of tartans as well.

Also if they do kids kilt hire as well?

Thanks very much anyone who can recommend a reliable company.

I've looked in the yellow pages, I just don't know who to start trying first!

ive used a few in glasgow, try gilt edged in the saltmarket area just at glasgow cross. plenty of stuff on the rails to try on. also used one on sauchiehall st,smaller shop above thorntons chocolate shop, good service but less stock on the shelf, both these places use fairly high quality stuff, some of the other places we tried were using cheaper material and it was easy to see and feel. most hire places will charge around £35 - £40 for full outfit hire.

We have also used Gilt Edged in the Saltmarket - OH has used them several times, and we used them for our wedding in September.

We used Geoffrey Taylor, 309 Sauchiehall Street, they were fantastic!! They hire outfits and do kids kilts from 2yrs not sure about adult sizing though and have 5 exclusive tartans too. Thet were really helpful and fixed us out with a fantastic good quality outfit a day before the wedding when another (East Kilbride Kilt Hire) badly let us down.

Thanks Alamo, had thought about the one up at EK but was closed for lunch when I went for a look...sounds like a lucky escape!
  • There is a place downstairs in Hector Russell in Buchanan Street which is also good.
They are doing 5 for price of 4 at the moment
