We are thinking of visiting Alton Towers around Easter time or just after and would like a night away. Can anyone suggest nice but cheap accomodation nearby? The Alton Towers Hotel is definately not within our budgets at present.
Also, am I correct in thinking Alton Towers used to do 2-day passes? (we haven't been for a few years, can you tell
) Do they still do these or is there something else now? I couldn't find anything on their website.

The Laurels
This is the only B&B I have stayed in when going to AT.
It is very nice, warm and friendly. All the rooms (that I have stayed in) have en-suite with a TV in them and tea/coffee making facilities.
The food in the restaurant is very very good. It is a good price and good size portions.
The couple that run it are very friendly and we have always been made to feel very welcome.
Tower times
This is a good place to find out AT info. I believe that you can buy a second day ticket at the gates as you leave. Also I think if you buy online you might get them cheaper and also if you get them sent to you then there is no queing for tickets in the morning :j :j :j
I can prob do a bit of a better map for the B&B because I had difficulty finding it first time.

Thank you, The Laurels looks a lovely place. Towers Times is great - loads of useful info there

I would just like to add that the fact Alton Towers is running their chocolate themed event, 'Chocolate Towers', has nothing to do with me wanting to go then
I read as far as 'chocolate volcano' and that was me sold! :rotfl:Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy.

We stayed at a nearby travelodge. Can't remember its name sorry. Very good deal by booking online.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We stayed at the Travelodge in nearby Uttoxeter - really handy only 15 mins away from Alton Towers.
There is also a Premier Travel Inn a few mins up the road - either one would be ideal - just depends on who is doing the best deal.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!
