Co-op smart saver

I got the letter telling me that the account has been approved.
When I contacted them to ask for online banking they asked me a number of questions. I forgot the memorable name and I don't have a card they told me that I don't have enough information to set the account up online.
Do I have to go to the branch?
Do they send cards out to all smart saver customers?
I sent some money via bank transfer. Can I get that confirmed?
My account number is 10 digits. Am I right only the first 8 are the acount number?

Gosh, questions, questions!Do I have to go to the branch?
This is the simplest was of dealing with the matter, but it can be done over the phone. Just admit you've forgotten what the memorable name is and they'll identify you by other means and reset the security questions.Do they send cards out to all smart saver customers?
Yes, unless you ask them not to.I sent some money via bank transfer. Can I get that confirmed?
Yes, via online banking or when you call them.My account number is 10 digits. Am I right only the first 8 are the acount number?
Yes, the last two (normally "00") are, confusingly, an internal code.

I contacted them again to see if the money had gone in and the second operator was most helpful and after confirming details he set me up for internet banking. Though when I tried loggin on I have not been formerly registered for it. I should get the card by Saturday or so as it was sent out yesterday.0

"Smart" saver....0.25% ....perhaps not?
Banks need to rename some of their accounts in the current low interest climate. Another Co-op favourite - "High Interest Base Rate Tracker" also paying 0.25%Ethical moneysaver0
