capped price gas and electric

recently swapped to Powergen who put there prices up. Was going to leave and they offered capped price until 2010 with no release penalty. Is this going to be a sensible option?

Impossible to say. Who knows how much prices are going to rise up to 2010? You're going to pay a premium for capping, it's a question of whether the premium is cheaper than the pay-as-you-go rate over the period.
As a rough estimate you could use last years price rises projected each year 'til 2010.
