Ok good bye guys, maybe another time0

A strange response from you there Mike5. You have been given some constructive advice in the thread and granted, some (one) not so constructive. You haven't furnished us with a great deal of information and people have done their best with the limited detail. I fail to see what you are actually asking when people have recommended (rightly so) that you contact the firm immediately and maintain that contact, even offer to go in on your own time to familiarise yourself with their processes? Whether they are honourable or not is kind of irrelevant unless you can afford to be that principled. Currently they are your best option of moving into employment.
So my question to you would be, what information are you actually looking for? Can you sue them for not taking you on because you quit your other role prematurely? Doubtful, but legal advice would clarify. Can you claim benefits? You don't seem interested in doing so. Can we advise you on what should be your next step? Read the constructive posts above...........

We also thrive on hearing how people get on so please do update the thread if something works out for you. I always encourage my clients to follow up on job applications. Employers can be very fickle and have very short attention spans. Get in their face and let them know you still exist and how eager you are to be part of their team.0
