Good, I'm glad you got your refund. I bought a lovely going out top from New Look last year which shrunk after 1 wash at 30 degrees. I took it back (with receipt) and swapped it, and the new one did the same! I was gutted actually as I really liked the top but there were no problems getting a full refund.

a bit off topic but if your daughters at school and has a student card (nus associate I think)
you can get 10% off at newlook!! (not on sale items though I dont think!)
This might help her if she's strapped for cash!

AFAIK New Look take NUS Extra, which is a paid for card (£10) available to Higher Ed students only.

Generally shops are reasonable if the item is deficient (and you stand by your rights).

unfortunately she isnt classed as one - yet! because she is still in compulsory education (doesnt do GCSE's till this summer). She cant be a 'student' or get an NUS card till she starts in the 6th form - downside to being a September baby & oldest in her year group

I agree, £25 is not that much if it was for me, but its a lot for a school child to spend. I think I will give it a go, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

The law lakes into account the price of an item when determining if it is of satisfactory quality. The age and purchasing power of the person who bought the item is not taken into account.

So £25 is cheap, no matter if you are a child or a stock broker.

Having said that, shrinking after one wash is unacceptable at any price!

yep, I think if she (or I ) wished to purchase a 'disposable, one-wear dress' we would have thought up to £5 was nearer the mark! Still, happy with the outcome so all's good
