Hi All!

Following on from Backing Up threads, Argos have these 2 'on offer'. Are they good value, which is better, or shopuld I be looking elsewhere at another make, instead?

Thanks in advance.

    same price at amazon

If you don't need 750+GB, the philips 500GB one from argos aint a bad price, or there is a tosh from ebuyer at 47.99

The problem with external hard drives is always that you never know just what type of hard drive is actually inside them until you open them up to find out.

The one terabyte Toshiba external hard drive, linked above, from eBuyer at £70 with free shipping, actually has a Western Digital drive inside it. (Which is extremely good and should be regarded as a win.)

After opening my first one and discovering that, I ordered another. They're excellent and I'd recommend them at any price. At £70 they're a steal.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

I brought Western Digital My Book 2 Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive last year from amazon and havent looked back since it seems very reliable low noise and does'nt get too warm. The only downside is some of the software you get with the drives is'nt very good. I downloaded synctoy from microsoft and now when i want to save stuff from my laptop it syncs it to my my book very easily. But at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference
