Smart. Plus it's better value for money too!I am looking at Vauxhall Corsa, Pug 206 & i have my eye on a VW Lupo but they are a lil bit expensive, and i think that may be too small. I don't have kids, i'm 25, but i have a lil 2 yr old niece who will be going out in my car lots, so needs room for pushchair and all her bits.
Corsa's are ok. Have a look at Fiestas too. Don't get a Peugeot 206, my OH has one and she HATES it, always going wrong too.I was shocked at how cheap my insurance is - quotes for all cars above are around £570 - and thats with Tesco.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Aha, lucky! Probably because you are female (no bloke would put 'xx' at the end of a forum post!)0 -

I'm on my second car are both are/were a Toyota Yaris. These are amzing cars, really good on fuel and loads of room inside. Everyone said it looks so small but they are very roomy. Thats why I bought another. They are so easy to drive and the sprrdo is digital. They are high up aswell which is a bonus.
My sister got a polo for her first car and she loves it. They are very roomy too.

I would highly reccomend a ford fiesta if your after a small car, or even an old Focus (slighly bigger for the kids)
Both have good safety ratings, not much goes wrong with them and cheap to run/maintainJames0 -
I'll stick a vote in for Skoda Fabia, mother-in-law and sister-in-law both have one and they pretty much never go wrong (one electric window motor between the two of them in 7-8 years and a combined 140K miles).
It's comfortable, surprisingly quiet and capable on the motorway for a small car, decent boot and decent rear seat space which takes child seats for my two 0-4 year olds with ease.
£2K will get you something younger than the equivalent VW Polo and they are essentially the same car.0 -
I stick in vote for Skoda, Toyota and Ford.
Golf will be far too expensive not only to buy but also to insure. Polo would be good investment, but not sure whether you can stretch to that amount.
I personally don't trust older Peugeots. I am not sure about the old style Corsa safety - check it on the Whatcar.
My first car was old Saab 900, I loved it too bits. My hubby bought it for me because they are built like a brick.0 -
Thanks shopaholic84 for your kind reply (and for everyone else's too) I asked if I could pm you for tips because I didn't want to hijack your thread!
My first lessons were with BSM and I feel I was ripped off too! I use an independent now and my new instructor's great and very supportive! I don't want the nerves to get the better of me, but it's difficult to control them and try to stay calm. I know I can drive, but it's just knowing that my every movement will be watched and feeling that I have to get everything right for forty minutes that freaks me out!
I really need to pass because I can't afford the £100 at time to keep on trying (inc lesson beforehand and use of instructor's car)! Plus I have arthritis and walking is becoming more difficult, so I need to drive asap! No pressure then, eh?
I'll get straight on to 2pass forums - thanks again guys!0
