Your HBOS shares dont exist anymore they have been converted to approx 120 LLoyds Shares currently 80p each.Only sell now if u desperately need the cash or seriously think Lloyds will go bust or be nationalised.

No it isn't relevant, whether the price or shareholding has halved or doubled, changed name because of a takeover etc... That's not the point.
I was asking at what price I should consider selling the shares.0 -

To be fair, you seem to have problems reading. If that is an unfair comment and you can read then look at message 10 in this thread. Read the first and third sentences.
P.S. You'll find it immediately above message 11, the one you wrote.0 -

Thank you for answering my question. No sign of pedantic nitpicking in your message which makes a welcome change for this thread! :T0 -

In other words, you stated an incorrect number of shares/price for what you had. If you don't know how much something is worth, how the hell can you know when the right time is to realise it's value? Let alone expect somebody to guide you on that.I've had about 180 shares in HBOS for ages now. I got them as part of an earlier merger and have never really taken much interest in them. Their current price is 70p
Throughout the thread people have given you their thoughts in direct answer to what you highlight as your key question:Not much point selling unless you need the £100? Would hold them until the price improves....its going to be a rubbish price if you sell now whatever so really you should hold for ten years and spend the dividends on beerWhen you need the money. I have rather more and have decided to "forget" I have them and see what the next decade brings.
There seems to be a consensus that your shares are worth marginally above diddly squat and you should hold them for a lot longer.
Any price you do sell them for is really your call and depends on what you need the money for, what the potential dividend income and capital appreciation for the shares is and a wide range of other personal factors about you that can't be reasonably established on an internet board.
There's no clear answer to your question, other than "more that they are worth now".
But your attitude throughout the thread was poor.0 -

I agree that it wouldn't be pedantic of people to clarify the point in the first case. But I thought it was rude of the person that did so to tell me to wake up at the same time, I thought that was unnecessary. You'll find that my attitude started to slip after that comment.
However it was pedantic when some continued to labour the point after I had already explained that I was referring to the shares as they were originally given to me and I knew what subsequent changes there had been.0 -

I've said several times now that I was referring to the shares that were originally given to me. It should be basic stuff to have noticed that by now. Really some people.......0 -
Since you are looking for the most basic, no frills answer, then that is simple, you should sell them when you feel the money you would realize from their sale can be put to more productive use and only you know at what price that is. It doesn't come any simpler or clearer than that.
Thank you. That's all I wanted. I've got the answer to my question now and don't particularly want to persist in an argument with other people who have taken issue with my tone while apparently ignoring the tone of some others on this thread and who also seemed not to have carefully read what I've posted.0
