finance troubles
We recently bought a Renault from an independant garage for 5500 pounds. The car is still under warranty (3 months) and in the 5 weeks we have had it, it has been back to the garage 4 times, due to a problem with an oil leak, which they told us was fixed after the first visit!
This was not the case, and required another 2 visits, we are still not convinced it is fixed! Then, one day, the car wouldn't start. So, we had the AA take it to the garage for us. They have changed the part they thought was at fault, but it still wouldn't start. They could not find the problem, so sent it to the Renault garage.
This was over a week ago now, and we are still none the wiser as to what the problem is...and if it can be solved!
Needless to say we are not happy with the car, and none of these issues are down to us. Unfortunately, the cooling down period has passed! We want to know if, due to the problems, there is any way of either giving the car back and cancelling the finance, or exchanging the car for another one of the same value.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks.

You have to give the selling dealer quite a few chances to fix the car and make it fit for the purpose it was bought for (Sale Of Goods Act)
We had an oil leak on a Scenic about 18 months ago - took us weeks to find it. It helped having an understanding customer.
Did Renault have a look to see what the oil leak was or just the indi garage?0 -
Up until now the dealer has had 3 chances to sort it out, and this will be the fourth time they have looked at that problem, as they said they would when we took it back due to it not starting. To be honest, it's only with Renault as the indi garage can't find out why it wont start.0
