Worm in c:\windows\system32\user32.dll - help needed!!!

Ive replaced AVG with Avast, upon installing Avast it flashed up and said i had a worm, here are the details...

Malware name:
Win32:SysPatch[wrm]

Filename:
c:\windows\system32\user32.dll

When i tried to delete or 'move to chest' it wont let me as its Read-Only or it comes up with 'file in use'.

I am really stumped on this, how do i post up my log using AVAST so someone more intelligent than me can help? lol

Apologies, anyway scanning now with MALWAREBYTES; will post up the log when its done! (could be a while)...as an aside: I did try and use Dr Cureit as this was recommended elsewhere however my laptop kept crashing (physcial memory dump) - tried in both IE and Firefox.

Id never recommend using Dr Webs 'cure it' to begin with as it can sometimes make a mess of the computer

Typically what happens to unmanaged code libraries (most DLL's) that are used by the operating system once they are infected with malware or a virus, the virus attaches itself usually by adding additional registry keys linking the legit windows DLL to the malware/virus code, so when Windows loads the legit DLL's in to memory for use by the operating system it loads the virus to making it difficult to remove as the virus is essentially "cloning" the user32.dll code library and Windows will not let you delete it as in needs it to operate correctly.

Run regedit and check to see if there is any unusual attributable data attached to the following reg key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\System\USER32

You should see the data in the right hand side pane.

Post back and let us know what you find.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Did you take any action against them? make sure to press remove selected. You will have to rescan if you didn't.
