Help with any info on Non-Standard Construction

Options
me and my boyfriend are currently in the process of searching for our first house, we have found one that is affordable, and ticks all the right boxes, but it is on Non-Standard Construction, Dorlonco to be exact, made of steel and concerete. Weve heard of problems with this type of house.. re. morgage and insurance, which we think will be ok after speaking to morgage advisors. But we were wondering if
1, anyone owns a similar house built house, and what kind of problems you encounted if any, structural or selling, etc etc anything.

Have you seen this old news story? The road is near my office but I've never noticed if they are still there! I presume that they are.

There's a company here who specialise in sorting out defective non traditional construction housing but you'll see on the first link that the residents were estimating £20k in 2002 but the council were estimating £50k.

There's of list of non-standard construction houses and approved repair schemes here (on a mortgage lender's site). They list Storiform Dorlonco as suitable for mortgage.

We've alway kept away from non standard construction as the wind can change very quickly and it only takes a couple of problems with a particular type of house for them to fall out of favour.
