Hi guys
Just looking for some tips/advice.
Took my car in for its MOT today at Evans Halshaw Peugeot from where I bought my car last year and they failed it on the following
Headlight bulb needing replacing on passenger side
Passenger rear seat belt wasnt working properly
They stated that the seat belt would cost 178.82 to be replaced and then would need to go through mot again at no extra cost, but couldnt do it there and then, had to order part in. So booked it in and thought as I was leaving would get a second opinion. Due to the fact that Ive just spent £600 on a service only a few month before, which Im now doubting about.
So took it to a garage that my aunty and uncle use and he yanked all 4 belts a couple of times and said no theres nothing wrong with the belt doesnt need to be replaced, but leave it with me and ill check it over and get it through, and that when these big garages have it on ramp they dont have it positioned right so the belts dont work properly, therefore clearly trying to rip me off again.
So just picked the car up from this garage feeling happier that iv not been ripped off..
The question is how do I go about at trying to get money back from Evans Halshaw for not doing the test properly and also trying to get another 179 from me when its not needed!

you should of asked for an mot appeal form from evans halshaw
But i would report them to the vechicle inspeterat VI or vosa. there will be details on the back of the mot form. and write to muppets halshaws HQ and Peugeot also.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
thanks for replying.. Ive just got my letter ready to print off to pendragon and will do the same for peugeot and im about to email VOSA and put a complaint in with them as well.. if they have done this to me, how many others have they ripped off..
and not only that i always think that they can get away with things when its just a female taking cars in compared to male.
this will be the very last time i use em now€:mad:0 -
Just a small point - did the original test failure say what was wrong with the belt?
If it was just 'sticking' & is fine now, after being pulled a few times, thats fine.
BUT - they are obviously an important thing to have working, if they needed to do their job, so please do make sure the 'fault' has been corrected.

Some belts will not clip in securely if the rear seat is not completely locked in place. This is a safety feature, and on some vehicles the failure of this mechanism can cause the seatbelt to stop working.0

all it says on the form was that it wasnt locking or releasing..
but when i went to the other garage works fine and its gone through mot0 -
did the bulb blow on the way to the test centre?0

The job of the main dealer is too make as much as they can, and not to help the customer- add to that some useless staff at dealers and the result is awful customer services. They also feed off the lack of knowledge from the customer too. Stick to a local independent in the future- at least you did well not to fall for their tricks. £600 for a service- ouch!0

The only thing this proves is that you may have an intermittent fault on the seatbelt.0 -
I don't believe you spent £600 on a service.
You may have spent that on a service plus the required repairs highlighted by the service.
How long had you been driving with a faulty headlight?0 -
