Savings account for our baby

Hi my wife and I are looking to open an account for our 14month old little girl.

We would probably set up a standing order each month out of both of our banks (we have separate accounts) of say £50 each and would also like to add extra money into the account on a as and when basis probably by paying cash over the counter.

I have looked at the NS&I account which looks OK to me or can anyone recommend anything better?

Halifax Kids Regular Saver pays 8% on monthly contributions, and you could pay the ad-hoc amounts in to their Save4It account.

Review balances at least once a year with a view to topping up a child trust fund.
