Toilet and a shower

Hi,

We are strangers to DIY and are thinking of having a downstairs toilet and a shower in the utility room with stone flooring which we will retain, where there are signs of a previous toilet cistern etc. A plumber had had a look ages ago and said that there is cold water supply to the room and that there was a working toilet once.

Now to get a shower, we need to get a hot water supply and then buy the toilet etc. Should we buy the stuff separately and get someone to do it or should we get everything done by one person/company?

And does anyone have any idea how much it might cost?

Thanks in advance.

Depending how easy/difficult it is to get hot water to the room, you might want to consider an electic shower.

I would be tempted to get the parts yourself so you can shop around and get the quality and price you are happy with.

As for price, obviously it's impossible to say without seeing the job but it will be £1200 upwards
