please help car full comp?

Hi, please can anyone tell me if 'full comp' insurance means that you should at least be able to purchase another car if yours gets stolen?
My dad's corsa got stolen, damaged beyond repair, after over 3 weeks they have said its worth £200, he has to pay £100 excess, to replace with the same model and same year he requires approx £1000, can he fight for any more money?

He needs to be able to prove (eg with ads) how much it will cost to replace the car with a similar model.

The excess has to be deducted from the value eventually agreed on the car.

From the information you've provided it sounds like he has a valid complaint.
Although bear in mind that advertised asking prices are not the same as selling prices.
At the moment cars are selling at quite a discount, so you should be able to knock something off the price if the £1000 is advertised (or go elsewhere).
