Will it addvalue to a house to add a porch

We have a existing porch area with no doors (just an arch way). The entrance main door is only the front door for the house. Recently we had a burglary and we are thinking of ways to secure the home and also not spend too much for that. Our existing porch area is 1 metre X 3 metres.
We have to choices to have 2 front doors, either we can cover the arch way with a frame and an UPVC door or we can have the porchje itself extended by 3metres X 1 metre and have proper buildign works and doors fitted. Obviously the second option is twice as expensive as the first one.
My question now is adding this extra space will it add anyvalue to the house inspite of having to reduce the driveway.? Or is it good enough to put a door for the archway and have a small porch.
please advise

personally i think a bigger driveway will add more money/attract more interest to your home, i find porches very off putting and would rather rip it down and have the extra space on the driveway0

It won't add value unless it actually improves the look of the property from the road, which might make it arguably more saleable than valuble anyway.
People are interested in living space, not porches.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Personally I see porches as practical - allows people calling to get out of the rain, and reduces noise and heat loss.0

You could try getting the neighbourhood police to advise on security. TBH I don't think many burglars smash down the front door anyways.0 -
I agree it wont add value. If you spend say 2k-3k on a porch you wont get that extra on increasing your house, it may make it more desirable and slightly increase it but not to the amount you paid. I remember reading a article last year on increasing value and despite all these property programs saying kitchens/bathrooms are a way to increase value often the best way is a paint job, nice decoration etc
You should only get one if you want one and further down the line sell it rather than just do it to assume you will increase the value of the home0
