Cd Manufacturing Quote

Hi all, I need a little advice please.
I run a small indie record label and I requested a quote from a manufacturers broker in the UK for the production of 1000 cds – I received the quote back saying “it would be £465.75 inc vat and delivery” – I then asked about putting a barcode on the item and was told this would be £35 to which I replied “£500.75 for everything I need, you got yourself a deal”.
A few weeks later and I have sent all the work in, proofed the artwork and the broker is in possession of my master cd ready to start production with the manufacturer – I then received a call saying that he couldn’t work out why my cheque was for the amount it was and when I told him the price I was quote he said it was without vat. I didn’t know what to say, this is the first time he rang me (after weeks of emailing about the project) and I felt a little intimidated to be honest but I requested he email me the details as I was in work.
I checked the email and it definitely states “inc vat and delivery” so I will argue that I have paid him exactly what he quoted me. My question is am in the right? I work to very strict budgets and most likely wouldn’t have gone with this broker had I known it would cost more than other quotes I received. I also feel like my project is being held to ransom as the broker I deal with is fully aware that I am working to a tight schedule for release (this is also a band members uni presentation as well) so we desperately need to get this back by the end of April (he told me it would be delivered on 28th April so little room for movement).
What can I do?
Thanks for reading
