Look very similar although not identical. I would go for the Plasplugs one as we;ve got one and its been great. Mind you its got a lot of porcelain tiles to cut this weekend so we'll see how it goes.

I bought the Plasplug one last week, you will still need to buy an additional diamond wheel, the one it comes with is not very good.

plasplus make the b&q one! i know because I had to get a replacement bit and phoned up plasplugs who were very helpful. plus as a previous poster said, they look very similar
  • Yeah i am thinking Plasplug as it is only £5 more and heard lots of good things about it. If it was £10-£15 more then i probably would go for B&Q own brand but a £5 is nothing!

I have the Plasplugs one and it did a nice job of cutting through thick/hard floor tiles.

Make sure you cover the area you are working in as they do get a bit wet.

Also all the diy stores should be doing offers over the bank holiday weekend so you make get it cheaper.

Yeah, i think B&Q are doing 15% off a whole load of products starting tomorrow. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? If i can get 15% off the tile cutter then :j

I wouldn't recommend the Plasplugs one myself. I think i paid about £30 for it in homebase a couple of years back. It cuts tiles ok but it's a pain to clean up (i'd get one with flat metal table rather than the plastic ridges) and the red clips that hold the guide down snapped on mine (replaceable part but inconvenient). The guide also doesn't always clip down parallel to the blade so i found i was constantly checking using a square.

I was in B&Q today looking at tile cutters...none were reduced by 15% that i could see so don't get too excited!

I bought a 16" manual tile cutter from Topps for £15 today though as i'm about to do some bathroom tiling soon - it's all straight cuts which are quicker to do with a manual cutter (electric one's are great for more complicated cuts but slow at easy one's). I saw a similar one in Homebase for £24. I've also got the wickes manual wall tile cutter but it won't do bigger then 300mm tiles.

I love my focus wet wheel- I think I got it on offer for £23.

It is great with all sorts of cuts, and only broke 2 tiles (333mm wide) in 2 bathrooms worth.
