What part of cyprus are you going to?

I was in both Protatras and Pahos last Easter. Protatras and the eastern end of the island is still very quiet at that time of year. Car hire from local outlets (though pick with care and watch the condition of the car) was around £60 cyp for a small car for the week. Petrol is about half the price here. Driving conditions are generally good.
Paphos seemed busier, but didn't hire a car there as the bus service was good. The bus service in Protaras was still on the poor winter timetable.

Check this site out http://cyprusliving.netfirms.com/phpbb/nfphpbb/, plenty of info and very friendly ex-pats who can answer anything you want to know about Cyprus.

Also check out car hire firms on the net (budget, avis etc) as they can workout cheaper bybooking online through them.

Aiya napa will be similar in price to Protaras. When we went last year a lot of things in Aiya Napa weren't open and it was still fairly quiet.

it says they have an offer of car hire from £6 per day... but that turns out to be £6 plus £3 for insurance... That still seems pretty good to me though.
