Hi I bought a second hand Ford Fiesta Y Reg with only one key, which is the remote control, and I need to get a spare. I have looked into getting a replacement but locksmiths have told me its impossible and Ford say it will cost me about £120 or more just for an ordinary spare - not remote. Can anyone tell me if I can get a cheap spare and whether (and how) I would need to programme it?

if yours is the master key then its not impossible just get one cut at a local auto locksmiths and follow the guide in your owners manualSealed pot challenger # 10

Mine is not the masterkey - it is just the remote. Also, I don't have the owner's manual! thanks0

When you get a car you should have two keys, usually one remote key and another key with a blue or red tab... You actually need both of these to program a new key into the car yourself...
As you have only one key, you will have to get another key cut, and then you'll have to take it to ford to be plugged into their computer for this key to be programmed to the car.
If you had two keys, you wouldnt need to have the car plugged into the Ford computer, and there is a sequence you can use to program another key to the car.James0 -
OK, I'll go to Ford - many thanks for the advice0
