Hi all,
I understand that it is possible to somehow transmit a signal from your PC to a TV in another room if you have the right equipment. I want to view movies that I've got on my PC, on my TV.
Can anyone tell me the equipment that is necessary to do this?
Is it wired or wireless?
If wireless, do you get interference and is it possible to reduce/eliminate this.
Thanks for your help.

you need a TV card at the back of your PC, then you use a cable (RJB or somthing like that) to connect the TV and PC together. cable is always better than wireless imho as it means that the signal cant be "lost" or get "stolen"
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
http://www.threedoubleyou.com/cordless-video.htm a quick google found these wireless ones, may give you a clue about what you're looking for.0

Another option is to look at wireless media players, such as the D-Link DSM320, Netgear MP115 (Superceeded by the DAVE later this year). These will stream (send) the movies from your PC to your TV at a cost of about £100-150.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0

A more expensive option although it would be a long term invesment would to be get a media center PC. I would reccomend getting one with at least:
200 GB Hard Disk Drive or HDD
1GB of RAM
DVD+/-RW
Digital TV Tuner
Network Card
If you get a reasonable sized TFT Monitor you can do away with your DVD player and TV and if you have Freeview, that two. And you are making a long term invesment as you have a very high spec pc aswell.0 -
I went for a cheaper option - you can get a standalone dvd player for as little as £25 which will handle xvid and divx files.
Just burn the files straight to dvd, works great for me and has the additional advantage that you don't need have the PC on.0 -
This has just come out (for all those who got the Samsung HDTV..:-) ) , it's about £250 though ...you can connect up to your network and search via the TV screen, also connect to the internet and get web based stuff too. If you don't want to change your PC, it might be an option in a few months when the price drops.

I have a TV-Out socket(S-Video) on my laptop, do you think I can get it to work?
Do you think there's any information in the user manual?
Yeah right0 -
My BT Iplayer has this facility.
I've not used it for movies but it can do mpeg2 over the network - don't think it runs full screen.
I use it for music from my pc which has all my cd's stored on the harddrive.
I think iplayers are still available on bt.com at £90.
Its also a great freeview (top up tv compatable) receiver.
Its got caller display when hooked onto your phone line.
Internet - via wireless network in my case.
Can use BT1571 answerphone and play messages back through tV
SMS text messages receive and send.
Its a wonder box.
