freeview

My tv is currently connected to an aerial lead, which I assume comes from an old telewest cable connection. (There is just an aerial lead in my sitting room which runs to outside the building, i'm not sure where it goes). There is no set top box anywhere, but when i automatically tuned my tv I got the five terrestrial channels + BBC News, E4, Sky One, Sky News, BBC Parliament.

I was wanting to buy a freeview PVR (personal video recorder) and was wondering if I would be able to use the current aerial lead in my sitting room rather installing a new aerial.

Assuming it is an old telewest cable, would it transmitting digital tv (freeview) signals, or would it just be the case of buying the pvr and then seeing what (if any) channels it picks up.

Sounds as if its an analog cable system, you're lucky to be getting Sky 1 free as its £15 a month to us satellite subscribers.
I doubt very much that you will find any freeview channels but theres no harm in giving it ago!

PS One vote here for Humax PVRs.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I was lucky when I bought my Toppy as I previously had Sky, so I just used that aerial and it works perfectly, but if I were you I'd just give it a go, seeing as your already getting some of the freeview channels.

And one vote for the Topfield 5800pvr here, twin tuner, 160gb hd, excellent quality and reception, but a bit dearer than the Humax.

    Hope this helps
