Hello there, filled an application online for a new Halifax current account. Received a letter saying I was successful and that I had to show my ID at local branch and then deposit £100 and then my card and cheque book will be sent out. They have also said they have given me a £250 O/D free for 3 months to assist with changing over salary etc.
Now this sounds like all is fine and I'm dying to get away from Natwest who have charged me a fortune for forgotten DD.......a different story!
My question..............if I take my ID and hand over the cash, will I actually have an account opened, or is there still a chance they will refuse my application???
Any help gratefully received

Hi shortbread,
Your sucessfully application would have generated a roll number usually starting with D/ once you take your id in to show them they cant refuse your application. The only way you might not have an account is if you wait say 2 months to make that first £100 deposit and show the id then it might just lapse otherwise providing you do this pretty soon you'll be fine.
Hope that helps.

Hi D, yeah that has helped, as it did have my account and roll number on it!
I had just wondered , if well usually things are never as straight forward as that for me lol
Will deposit the £100 as soon as I can.............if I deposit this, can I take it out the next day, or do I need to keep it in there??

No problem, glad to be of help!
Usually they say you should leave £100 in the for 24hrs as that triggers the activation of the card and cheque book so if you can leave it in there 24hrs (working days) just to make sure that they get sent out to you.
Also if you need to take the money out before your card and cheque book arrives make sure you take your roll number and some id with you e.g passport or driving licence otherwise some branches get a bit shirty if you havent got the right information to withdraw.

The account is opened. You just need to deposit money so the stuff can be sent to you.0
