Laptop Needed

I need a new laptop.
I need a 17" display, with 1920 x 1200 resolution. Thus far the only laptop I have seen that supports this resolution is a Dell. Does anyone know of any others?
I currently run a T2600 with 4GB Ram. I am looking for something a bit more performant, in either a dual or quad core.
I buy a laptop once every 3-4 years, so I need something that will last well beyond windows 7.
Anyone got any advice? know any deals?
Thanks.

You can get something with a faster processor, but bear in mind that 32 bit will only support up to 4GB RAM, which is what you already have. To go above 4GB RAM you need 64 bit OS and your existing apps may not all be compatible with this.
When you say more performance, do you mean more RAM, faster processor or better graphics, i.e. what functions do you need to perform better? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks. The Mesh looks interesting. I will look closer at that later. Mesh was one of the first laptops I owned about 7 years ago. It was crap!
But 7 years is a long time, and the company is still going, so I am not ruling them out. Besides the old Mesh was an AJP or some other rebranded model.0 -
What about a thinkpad w700?
or rock xtreme
