are these rapid composters any good? Was having a look at one today online, am still trying to convince myself to compost my own, and can't see how it can really be 4x faster.

Also do these bags just sit on the floor with the bottoms open or the bottoms sealed?

I have several composters, and have now started using tonne builder's bags. I cover it with another tonne builder's bag.

They're wonderful! They hold a LOT more than most compost bins, are so much easier to get stuff into them,
AND if you keep a spare one, it's like the ultimate trug. Put everything in so easily, without having to cut it into 1.5-2ft lengths(which most trugs require), and then just drag it to the main compost pile.

I'm in love with them. :)

As for fast composting, the best one I've ever come across is the Green Cone.

Every year, I fill it to the brim with garden and kitchen rubbish, and
every year, it rots down to nothing. In the ten years I've used it, I've never had to empty it.

I think it's the wonderful double skin that helps the stuff heat up and rot down so excellently.

It came with my garden when I bought the house. I can't justify buying more of them, but oh boy, are they effective.

Another vote for the builders bags, you can get them cheap or free if someone had something delivered locally and doesn't want it.
They can be re used and folded away when not in use. If nothing else very useful as a temporary overflow for a standard bin
