Hi all, am wanting to buy a digital SLR but am unsure which brand to go for and where I can get the best deals. Where I live (Leeds city centre) the only cam shop is Jessops and PC World and they're both way too expensive.
Anyone know of any reputable web offers or shops in west yorks which sell decent low-cost digital SLR's?

Doh! My m8 has JUST sold a SLR for £90 in Halifax, was £180 some weeks ago.
erm...........how much you wanting to spend?0 -
I'm not sure what price you'll find for it but the Nikon D50 is a very good entry level SLR to get. Looking at one myself.
Actually been kicking myself as Amazon had it for £315 or so a few weeks back, but it's gone back up to £353. That's one of the cheaper prices around for it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
If you're after a low-cost cam, does it have to be a SLR? If you just want one with a long lens have a look at the SLR-alikes such as the Fuji S9500 (around £400) or S5600 (£220) , Olympus SP500 (£250), Kodak Z740 (£170) - these are all 5mpix or over with 10x optical zooms.0

They don't usually have dSLRs, but on the theme of alternatives, I always think Morgan Computers are worth a look. I don't think they have a store near you, but they do mail order.0

Just make sure that, regardless if you go for a true dSLR or a Long-Lens digital, it has built-in 'Anti-shake'. Most do these days, but when using a long-lens, it will save you a lot of heartache.-=Mr-J=-0

Most DSLRs do not have anti-shake built in. It is the lenses which have it, and the expensive ones at that.-=Mr-J=- wrote:Just make sure that, regardless if you go for a true dSLR or a Long-Lens digital, it has built-in 'Anti-shake'. Some Konica Minolta DSLRs have anti-shake built into the actual camera, but they are the only DSLRs I can think of that have it on the camera.0
