Can anyone recommend a FREE community banking account?

We have a community bank account with the Allinace & Leicester which we were led to believe was a free bank account.
To put it bluntly its not as they are charging us £5 per month which we are very unhappy with.
Also their statement layout is a joke with all of the debits grouped together and all of the credits grouped together which makes reading it a nightmare.
We are looking to change so can anyone recommend a good "free" account?
