Miele cat and dog hoover owners - does it over heat?

Hello

Please can you help me - I have a Miele (not the cat and dog) that always over heats and cuts out and then won't let me switch it back on for ages. This problem has got more frequent and needs replacing. I googled the problem and it would seem that the Miele range has a safety cut out when the vacuum gets too warm. Do you find this happens to your Miele? I don't want to replace my Miele with the cat and dog version to then have the same overheating the problem.

Many Thanks

Alison x

I've used a Miele cat and dog for years but never had this happen. Don't know if that is any help, but hope you can get it sorted out.
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks Becles.. Thats good to know. When I googled it - it seems its a known flaw. I can't complain to Miele as I have been using cheap non brand vacumm bags so it makes the warranty void. Gutted.

I bought my Miele Cat and Dog last year and not had a problem with overheating (maybe I don't use it enough :D), very happy with it.

Claim under the warranty, they dont need to know you have been using unbranded bags!

Hi, We have used Miele Vacuum cleaners for years - the only reason why one has ever over heated for us while in use is that the bag or filters need replacing. If there wasn't this over heat sensor then you would blow the motor, so this sensor is a good thing. Last thing only ever use the Miele bags and filters. Considering the time and money Miele invest in the development of the bags and filters you would expect them to cost more than 10 times the amount they actually do!

  • We have two of their machines, one at home and one at OH's workplace, had them for years, only use Miele bags and filters, and never had a problem.

Did you try cleaning any and all filters?

Mums Dyson (DC07) was doing this. The pre and post motor filters were blocked, the cyclone was gunked up too. Easy enough to fix, but be aware that Dysons need maintenance as much as any other.

Personally, I do love the things though..my little stowaway Dyson does a stunning job, even with a long haired missus and 2 shedding cats, as well as 2 guinea pigs.
