Possible to use BT Home Hub with O2 Broadband?

I have braod band with O2 and my phone line with BT. I need a new home phone handset so I'm considering buying the BT Home Hub 2.0 and phone 2.1 (second hand).
I could use the handset as a stand alone but wanted to know that could I use the Home Hub as a direct replacement for O2's wireless router?
Will O2 broandband connection only work with their supplied wireless router?

Are you on the O2 16meg (LLU) service?
I'm curious if the BT Home Hub can support ADSL+ services?0 -
Thanks peeps. I need a new phone handset so have been looking at the BT Hub Phone 2.1 on Ebay. They're pretty cheap as a package with the Home Hub Router 2.0 aswell ... and they look good too!:D Thought I would use it to replace the O2 router.
Shame really. The spec sounds good but it's pretty useless if it doesn't work.0 -
Just doing some reading and I found some resources that may be of interest but they're too technical for me to fully understand.
[Edit] The forums won't let me post my links as I could be spamming the forums. Sorry mate. But if you do a search for "unlock bt homehub" you should find a lot of resources.0 -
a tip for you, if you do decide to get the homehub and there is a firmware hack out there (as it will only allow connection to BT broadband at the moment) in order to use the phone with your normal landline you will have to dial 5 before any other number otherwise it will try to route the call through BT Broadband Talk (which is what its there for).
You can set the phone to ring on incoming calls though.
Are you planning on using the phone for VOIP? or land line?
I believe that BT make a similar phone at is line only (no router)BR 31/03/2009AD 31/03/2010 (hopefully)BSC number 257Barclays Cash Card Account with Connect Debit CardMycashplus card0 -

the phone itself sells for around £30 on eBay but the phone and hub sell as a package for around £50 so I thought it might be worth the extra £20 for the router.0 -
Would just use the phone as a landline only.
