No DVI Signal

Hi folks,
having a bit of a problem linking up my computer to a new digimate TV I have bought recently. It is PC compatible, but when I link up my computer I'm getting a No DVI Signal come up on the screen.
I have tried two computers with it. One does not have a tv card or dvi slot in it - is this an elementary error!! (I bought a vga / dvi adaptor) But the other one is a Mesh computer with Kworld tv card, dvi slot etc. Both, however give the same 'no dvi signal'.
I have tried going to the display settings to see if there is some kind of 'enable dvi' tab but could find nothing. Just wondering if anyone out there with more computer nouse than myself can help ??
