    The cheap advance tickets are up to the 29th of June and you can get Advance single for £8 each way. Use this website to help you see when they release tickets for your dates, but my advice is keep checking daily as Virgin trains release the cheap tickets in blocks and can be irratic with their dates.

    The 12 weeks (despite what Mr Lewis says) is by and large a myth.

    What is true is that booking as soon as the cheap tickets are released will get you the cheapest fares. That MAY be 12 weeks, but is more often less, sometimes a lot less.

    If the only tickets you find are designated 'anytime' or 'off peak' - then the cheap tickets are not there. They will be flagged 'advance' when they appear.

    Forgot to mention, you can also use this website as well, it will send you an email when the cheap Advance single are available for your journey, but don't buy the tickets from them as they charge booking fees;
