Hi all
I need to update a time pc that has only recently been connected to broadband,
it is xp home service pack 1 ,amd athlon xp2000+ , 1.6 ghz and 224 mb ram.
I cannot install antivirus (avg) as sp1 will not support it.
What problems am i likely to encounter when i download it, i am thinking of it rebooting itself continually, chance of infections with no antivirus or anything else that might happen.
Oh and how long is it likely to taketo download?
many thanks.

so download avira AV first, then SP 2&3.....would SERIOUSLY consider putting more RAM in it though.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

you definitely need more RAM to run SP2 and SP3
I would run MalwareBytes also as SP1 doesn't switch on your XP firewall automatically.
I'll be surprised if you're not coming down with infestations.0 -
I wouldnt attempt to install sp 2 or 3 until youve upgraded your ram:idea:0
