There have been loads of posts about Sharm and Egypt recently. Have a look through old posts or do a search.

  • I went last year and stayed in the conrad hotel in sharm. The security everywhere is very tight and even the hotel had a metal detector and a 24 hour guard at the door to the hotel. Personally I would go again deffinitely if the money was available. The only problem me and the OH had was we both got salmonella - mine was over there and OH was when we returned. The OH wrote and complained to a very well known travel company and got over half of the price of the hol back.
So even with the problem we had I would would say go for it !! - its great for snorkelling and scuba too if your into that . if you want any more details please feel free to PM me. HTH. ;)

    Hi
My hubby went there last year just after the bombings. He said security was really tight out there now so I wouldn't have any worries going there. In fact he's going there again in May.

You are more likely to be killed, attacked or robbed if you decided to go to London for a week instead. The only dangerous thing anywhere near Sharm are the camels on Mt Sinai

I am looking at going there and my family where doing the obvious worrying, but when you think London had twice as many bombs and we go into london without a second thought. I was looking for an excuse to go but because alot of them have all inclusive and the town centre is a car-free area if i remember. Seems a great place, at least it will be cheap and quite this year.

    Hi Ian

I would recommend Dahab over Sharm any day. Sharm will be safe enough and as above posters have said, security is very tight there. But it's a town built for tourists and I think it is bland and totally lacks atmosphere. Dahab is wonderful, you can have luxury hotels if you want, budget camps to stay in or there are plenty of medium priced hotels. It's colourful and lively with absolutely tons to do. All down to personal choice of course. Hope you have a good time.
