Re holidays - ALL people employed on PAYE are now entitled by law to 28 days paid holiday (ie normally 20 days holiday and the 8 Bank Holidays). If you are PAYE - then he cant dispute that you HAVE to be paid for those days - whatever sort of system he is operating.

Thanks for the help, im going to google that to findout more details about it.

Hopefully nearer the 8th May (when i take my SIA test) and am meant to start getting paid each day i go into the control room and work from then,
(although he has told me im already their employee and my name is on the 'employee list'),
that i will then get a proper contract of employment and get forms giving me the specific details about what holiday im entitled to and details about pensions, the minimum number of hours i will be given per week and paid for, if i choose to leave what sort of notice i need to leave,
and if 1day during the bosses daily swearing rants he shouts at me to get the **** out and that im fired, what i could legally do to make sure i get my payment at the end of the month still. :/

This is why i never ever wanted to be a worker and always wanted to be self-employed as then theres no-one f*****ing me around, and i earnt my cahs instantly then.

Do I take it that the £500.00 is to show you are committed to the job and that you still have to pay for your training on top? How much is the training?

You state that he will give you the £500.00 back at the end of three months when you have shown your commitment. Who determines whether during that three months you have been committed - you, him or both?

What happens if he decides to fire you a week before the three months is up, do you loose your £500.00? No wonder he can afford the school fees!!

I work for the managing agents of a large shopping centre and we employ a team of contract security staff which obviously has its own control room along with big bank of cctv screens for which the staff are all licensed. No way would this practise be allowed to go on. It all smacks, as has been said before, of underhand dealings.

Don't get taken for a ride.

Do you still maintain that this job is in one of the professions?

As I have said before, I really wouldn't do this if I were you. It is wrong on so many different levels!

But, hey, don't listen to me.
