Hi

I have a Calypso phone (BT) with two AA sized but rechargeable batteries (NiMH). The phone has gone 'funny' and I think it's the batteries but I have to phone an 0870 number to get replacements...

Anyone know who/where else might sell these batteries?

    Usually cheaper on ebay.

    Try HERE.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You're only likely to get a set of 2 if they come with a charger which will cost more than a set of 4 (will still be much cheaper than getting replacements from BT).

Don't blame you for that - bit of a cheek to have an 0870 when you're buying stuff (normally 0800 for buying, 0870 for complaints...).

Lots of other stuff will use 2 AAs - TV/HiFi remotes, portable radios, digital cameras - handy pressies! (or use them in your own remotes after charging them in the phone).

    aaargh

I need 750 MAH batteries and they seem to have been discontinued!

So - to reiterate AAA NiMH 750 MAH....

    could I use 800MAH?

am concerned because the phone lives on a charging unit - or should I just get a new answerphone? (and this one's not THAT old! - mind you it was reduced when I bought it so probably discontinued then)

The 800s will be ok - I replaced 650s with 750s in one of mine a couple of years ago. Important bit is that they are both NiMH (some older phones used NiCad) and the news ones aren't massively higher capacity.
