Main page on Priceline now tries to get you to book conventionally throught them. So what you're seeing is their rate for an 'ordinary' booking.
Look for the 'Name your Own Price' link which will then get you to their bidding page.
The Ramada link I provided was a report of a winning bid.
The Betterbidding and Biddingfortravel links get you to forums that can advise you how to bid.0 -
OK I see what you mean. $70 is very good for New York. However, it was 14 months ago!
Do you reckon it better to use Priceline.com as opposed to Priceline.co.uk ?0 -
Tax on hotel rooms in NYC is 13.625% + $2 per night, and if you want en suite facilities, double check you are getting them, because most good prices seem to have shared facilities. Also check on the map where the hotel is, to avoid ending up where you don't want to be and spending too much money on trains and taxis.

Take your point re the taxes and shared facilities. But if you intend to stay in NY for more than a few days you would definitely benefit from a travelcard for a week at around £13 for unlimited train/bus travel.0 -

IMHO I would favour the UK one as if there's any problem with the booking (not happened yet.....) then you can call the UK helpline as opposed to the US one.
The winning bids tend to be around the same level, though I've not looked into it in depth.
You are only supposed to use the UK one (if you're in UK) but you can setup two separate accounts which can help bidding.0
