This has probably been posted before but if you have for example £200
Put £1100 into High Interest Account such as Ing direct and be £-900 in your current account (with the interest free overdraft up to £1000). You can always go to -£1000 but it is more of a risk.
IMO, don't get too near the overdraft limit because you will find you draw more money out as a student and there are things like accomodation fees which come out of your account.
This insures that you will be earning that little extra interest per month which is always handy !!
