Advice on a pick up only for a buyer needed

I am thinking of bidding on a piece of furniture that will go for about £850 and the buyer stipulates pick up only between certain dates and payment by Paypal or Bankers draft, so can anyone advise me on what precautions I need to safeguard myself. Thank you.

Ask them if can pay cash on collection.0

If I am collecting I expect to be able to pay by cash.
Would not use paypal as you would need to pay in advance to ensure they got the money.0 -
As a buyer, you've no risk if paying by Paypal - if you don't get the item you can do a chargeback. The risk is entirely with the seller because if you were unscrupulous, you could easily do a chargeback once you've collected and they'd have no proof you received the item.
As far as I'm aware, a bankers draft is as good as cash, without having to carry that sort of money with you, so I'd go for that option.0
