HSBC Plus account?

Hi everyone!!
My husband and I have just found out we are being posted to Germany in a few months.
He has an HSBC Current Account Plus, which I believe give him free withdrawls abroad???
I currently bank with Bank Of Scotland, and I am happy with my account. However I am aware that I will get awful charges for banking abroad with them.
Can anyone tell me if I was to open an HSBC Plus account, is there a minimum pay in amount each month, because as I said I am happy with my BOS account just now, so dont really want to have to change everything just now, when I can do it nearer the time I move.
Does the HSBC account give me any benefits, with regards living in a BFPO in Germany?
Any other advice would be great!
Thanks!

Well Plus in itself costs £10 for 3 months then £13 a month thereafter....
Cannot see anything on their site which says you have to pay a minimum in a month though.0 -
If you are in Germany, have you thought about a Nationwide FlexAccount? This offers free withdrawals within Europe. There is no minimum pay-in each month but the account must be opened with £100.0

No, so long as you pay the fee each month there's no minimum pay-in for Plus. It gives fee-free withdrawals abroad, but there's still an exchange rate loading applied (2.75% at time of writing).
Just a general point, I'm happy to help, but I'm not keen on being called out by name. No worries really, but still... just for the future

Am I missing something here, why pay two lots each month when if you get a Joint A/C then you both get the same benefits but only 1 fee......
That way you can still leave open your Hbos one (why you'd want to dothat though beats me lol)

Nationwide now charge!
Plus withdrawal is not completely free! You will still be charged for the currency exchange rate.
You can add your name on to your partners account and you only have to pay one fee. <Joint account>.
Travel insurance will not apply if you are out of the country more than 30 days.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

Only outside Europe. Germany was in Europe last time I checkedTEDDYRUKSPIN wrote: »Nationwide now charge!

Nationwide give you the Visa rate with no exchange rate adjustments. The rate is very, very good and probably a lot better than you'll get from any bureau de change.0 -

If this was to happen, would they be credit scored or do they simply just adjust the original account from sole to joint or is it treated like a whole new application and what if they failed the credit scoring?
Just asking - in case someone knows the answer.....

Sorry hun! What does that exchange rate mean? That I am basically charged an extra 2.75%?
I have changed it now

I have my own reasons for not wanting a joint account with my husband. One of which being he has a very bad credit rating from years ago, and this bank account was the first current account he has been able to get in 5 years!
I however have a "good" report and want to keep it that way.0
