Ceramic Hob top smashed!

I could scream!
My lovely hubby dropped something yesterday and it smashed a hole into my belling Oven Ceramic top.
I phoned a local supplier of Belling ovens and they quoted £250 for a replacement top, which comes with the electrical elements etc all in one.
Thing is, all the power is fine and works, I just want a new piece of ceramic glass for it.
It seems Belling dont sell them, so does anyone else know where i can get a 650mm dark piece of ceramic to repair my oven with?
My insurance company wont cover it, my own fault but still annoying!

does your insurance not have accidental cover
replacement glass costs same as new hob tbh - OH's mum did the same thing claimed it off insurance as glass was so expensive and it was their own fault too:rolleyes:Time is the best teacherShame it kills all the students*******************************************************************************************0 -
I would suggest, type the model number into google and see if you can get a replacement cheaper online."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I have tried googling it, however it comes up with the complete top unit and I really do only need the glass as the workings inside are perfect.
Does anyone know where i can buy the glass top seperatly? google isnt helping me with this one.0 -
don't thinkI've ever heard of house insurance that wouldn't cover an accident like this. What's the point of having cover? Can't help with the glass, but I would be looking for a new insurance company if I were you!

Insurance without accident cover is quite common I don't have this type of cover because it is expensive as you are paying for all those people who accendently break their plasma TV's! Or cant walk in loft without falling!0

Worth the extra couple of quid a month if it means you don't have to pay out £400 for a new hob when hubby has been clumsy though:D

I just changed insurance company and got a online quote and hadnt realised that accidental cover wasnt in as standard. I have it on now, for an extra £5 a month, but that doesnt help me much.
Does anyone know where i can get a piece of glass PLEASE???0 -
Don't know if it's of any help at all - but I got a replacement piece of oven door glass from a local glass supplier. They had to send away for it - but you never know.........0

Have you asked your insurance company if it is covered ? The reason I ask is because every policy I have ever had covers " fixed glass" in cookers etc as part of the standard insurance and it is not necessary to have the accidental damage extra cover to be able to claim. Sorry if you have already been down this route, I would hate you to have to pay out unnecessarily0
