was wondering, ive currently decorated, and i av 2 relocate the tv. the wall for hanging it on is actually plasterboard i think. the house is 120 years old... the main brick wall im not sure about.
Would anybody reccomend a bit of say marine ply 8 x 4 on the wall fixed by plasterboard fixings then the bracket on and then the tv? the wall itself is plasterboard on the outside and is springy behind... not sure if there is joists as the place is 120 years old
any info about hanging it will be good
thanks

i've got a 42inch plasma up in the lounge on the back of the kitchen wall. When drilling into it at first it didn't seem too clever and just possibly plasterboard but there was brick behind it. Once drilled i used anchor bolts to hang the bracket up. Doesn't look too bad now it's done.

dunno about 4, i think i've got 13 in mine cos i didn't want to see it lying on the floor when i came down stairs the morning after0

thats what im afraid off.. tho on the insurance i got with my tv it also covers falls of walls aswell so i would be covered but i still dont want it to fall lol :Sscheming_gypsy wrote:dunno about 4, i think i've got 13 in mine cos i didn't want to see it lying on the floor when i came down stairs the morning after
the wall bracket i got with the tv has 4 holes in it for bolts to go in toNever do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
should be ok then.. mine has holes everywhere so you can slide the bracket up and down. You could put it up and hang bricks off it for a few days to see how it handles the weight.0

will prb try that... tho im still not sure if it is advisable to put some kinda board behind or if it would be ok to even test it without lol :SNever do things tomorow when you can do them today.0

if there is brick or something behind the wall the anchor bolts should do the job well enough as they expand and hold it in place but give the bricks a whirl,
or the neighbours kids0 -

Nice one scheming_gypsy. I now know where exactly your tv system is in your place. It's not falling on the floor you need to worry about now!
I must remember to either borrow your tool kit or bring my own with me!
For those worried about the tv falling on the floor, have a big cushion area directly under the tv where it is hung up, so if it drops, it will be lying on the cushion area!

haha, it's not hard to spot it's right infront of the window. If it did go walkies i'd have fun with the insurance company.0
