i know this is adiscount thread, but can anyone help me?

I have 1720 points pending from shopping on boots.com plus 104 points to go on sometime this week, the nearest boots with a atm machine is Cardiff, (i don't drive so 20 mins on train and 15 min walk to station) I phoned customer services about the points also stating i have cerebral Palsy so hence shopping online so i don't have to struggle to carry bags and was tols sorry they couldn't help i had to put my cardinto an atm machine in one of the stores, is there any other way around it?

After reading your post this morning, I acted on what I felt was an unfair situation and contacted Boots about this topic via email (I never mentioned any sources or names etc). A representative phoned me a short while ago, but never really offered any resolution other than to admit that the system does have flaws and gaps and they will take my comments into consideration.

Even after the reponse from Boots I felt dissatisfied and have given the situation some more thought. I do feel that something needs to be done about this, and would be interested in hearing other people's feelings on the matter. It doesn't affect me directly, however, I do believe that Boots should offer a solution to be fair to all customers, but it would take more than just a single email from me to encourage that.

In the meantime, clairewop, it's worth noting that if you were to lose your card, the new card they would issue you with should have your points balance on it on receipt, available to be spent at your local store immediately without the need to interact with an Advantage Card machine:

    ;)

    Hope this helps,

i had a problem trying to get points onto my card as my local boots have a machine but it didnt work for over 6 months! they changed stores eventually so i went to the new one and lo and behold their machine was not working ha ha, took me months to finally get one that worked, i am not driving over 20 miles just to put points on my boots card from online purchases i realy dont understand why they dont go on your card when u buy online automatically!

  • my local boots doesn't have a machine either, and after making the journey by train and bus to the next town I found both of theirs to be out of order, as I had about 2000 points due I was pretty annoyed and called boots customers service, I was given the usual speil about trying again on next visit etc, then they added the points over the phone for me, this was about 2 years ago tho, don't know if systems have changed, might be worth ringing again tho? hth

i was told they couldn't add my points over the phone, cause there was no way of them taking the points from the kiosk, which meant that i would receive double points when i put my card into the kiosk the next time i used it.

I did explain the reason for me using the boots.com was because i struggle to carry bags due to my disability and this time of year a big boots is too busy for me to go in and get knocked around at, was told that there was nothing they could do.

Why don't you try phoning again and email too - maybe someone more thoughtful will answer this time. If they can't add on the points, you have a whole year to collect them from the machine - I'm sure you/ someone you know will go into town by December 2010 and be able to collect the points ;)

This is surely almost discrimination? I'm sure it's not intentional and the staff in most stores are usually great, but nevertheless it's not good enough. Have you tried phoning the store that you would have to use so see if they can suggest anything? My experience is that the managers usually bend over backwards to help. Failing all else, pm me and send me the card and I'll put it in a machine to update and send it back!

i went into a smaller boots and asked too but they said the card had to go into a machine, or phone customer services which wern't much help, the staff in the smaller boots were lovely and were very appologetic that they couldn't help me.

I managed to get my 1720 points last tues with my mum, theres only 104 points pending at the moment so its not really worth bothering you for those points they can wait, but thankyou very much for your offer.
